Prolife leaders and citizen activists, join us for the annual Right to Life of Michigan's Legislative Day event, Tuesday, March 11th, at the Radisson Hotel in Lansing. Registration begins at 8:45.  Have lunch with your legislator and find out more about the Abortion Opt Out Law that goes into effect March 14. We also welcome special guest speakers Brad & Jesi Smith. The Smiths prolife views were tested when they received the news that their 5th child, Faith, was diagnosed in the womb with Trisomy 18. A grave and frequently fatal medical condition, Faith was not expected to survive long after her birth. This resulted in multiple doctors advising them to abort their daughter. After birth and throughout Faith's childhood, many doctors and hospitals were reluctant to offer lifesaving treatment options.  You won't want to miss the Smith's tell their story challenging society's often low view of the most vulnerable of human lives. You can reserve your seat today by registering online at www.rtl.org or mail in your reservation.  For more information please call (517)487-3376 or email LEGISDAY@RTL.ORG.

Update on Our 20 Week Pain Capable Abortion Ban Initiative: Dear Friends--   I want to let you know the status of this effort.  CPLS has retained the services of the American Freedom Law Center to research the jurisdictional issue regarding municipalities' powers to regulate abortion clinics and practice. The research does take time--  Robert Muise-- Senior Counsel for AFLC is very diligently doing the research and he believes that the best route for us is not via the Michigan Home Rule Act-- but through local zoning and nuisance ordinances. He is currently examining these issues as they relate specifically to Lathrup Village and will even attend any meeting we set up with that city.   We will then need to customize the 20 week pain capable statute to fit the zoning/nuisance abatement laws. Right now we just need to wait for AFLC to finish its research-- SO STAY TUNED--   and PRAY!   God bless you all--   Monica of CPLS (Citizens For a Pro-Life Society)

Life Beyond Crisis - Fr. Pat’s Taught Me... (Written by Jodi Giron)

Shakemeia Johnson is a smart girl. Hard-working, athletic, and mischievous, she was a good student and a great basketball player. Like most fourteen year old girls, she was bubbling with big dreams that would carry her out of a painful home situation; but it took one season of finding community in the wrong places and Shakemia - Kiki to her friends - learned that she was pregnant at fourteen years old.

The father of her baby was older and had played up on Kiki’s trust and empty home life to draw her into a relationship that was damaging to Kiki and her dreams. He abandoned her during the pregnancy and Kiki found herself with no support from the father of her baby and kicked out by her mother.

After bouncing from the streets to friends’ homes to a pregnant teen shelter two hundred miles from home, Kiki made her way back to her mother’s home where she was told that she was not allowed to attend school or get a job to support herself since she had to stay to care for her infant baby.

One night, after another heated argument about finishing high school, Kiki made a desperate search on the computer. Father Pat Jackson’s House was the first hit and she picked up the phone, despite the fact that it was an hour after the office closed. She called every hour until a case worker answered. A month later, at 17 years old and with a baby daughter, Kiki moved into Father Pat’s. She immediately found her stride, establishing herself as a promising student in traditional high school, taking a part time job, and working hard to open up in group sessions at the house.

Now, at 18, she’s moved into her own apartment where she works part time and is preparing to study Criminal Justice at Oakland Community College. With a bright smile, she looks me in the eye and says clearly, “Father Pat’s taught me how to live my life. For me and for my baby” This is the work in which continue: to give pregnant teens and their babies a life. Life beyond pregnancy, beyond birth. Life lived abundantly.

Pray for an End to Abortion and for 40 Days For Life in Ann Arbor!

From now until April 13th, please pray for the end of abortion and for the success of the 40 Days For Life campaign, which will begin on Ash Wednesday, March 5th and ends on Palm Sunday, April 13th. Perhaps you could pray the following prayer. Heavenly Father, I pray for the children who will be returned to You today by the martyrdom of abortion. I pray for their mothers and fathers who will never know the joy of loving and being loved by their child. I pray for their families, who will never know the gifts and talents which make this child unique. I pray for healing for ALL victims of abortion, especially the mothers, fathers, grandparents and siblings. I pray for an end to abortion in my community, in my country, and throughout the entire world. I pray this through your Holy Spirit in the most powerful Name of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Black History - Pro-Life Event at UM - Dearborn on Tuesday 2-18

(Hope some of you can attend, even with this late notice -  Sandie Weathers)

We have a pro-life event on campus this week, if you could circulate
it, that would be appreciated

Students for Life at UM - Dearborn is cosponsoring a good pro-life
speaker this Tuesday at 7PM.  We are bringing Pastor Levon Yuille to
campus for a lecture entitled "Black History: The Rest of the Story."
Pastor Yuille will be discussing the impact of legalized abortion on
the African American community.

Pastor Yuelle is one of the leading black conservative leaders in the
country and host of the weekly radio program, "Joshua's Trail." He

UN COMMITTEE ATTACKS CATHOLIC CHURCH
TELLS CHURCH TO CHANGE TEACHING ON ABORTION
TELLS CHURCH TO LET KIDS HAVE SEX
February 5, 2014
Dear Friend,
I am hopping mad.
Today a UN committee directed the Catholic Church to let children have sex and also to change Church teaching on contraception.
The Committee also directed the Church to change its teaching on abortion and to let kids have abortions.
The Committee also told the Church that its comments on homosexuality has caused violence against homosexuals.
This alarming and even disgusting report was issued today by an out of control UN committee after grilling the Church for eight hours last month.
This is not the only recent attack on the Church at the UN. The awful baby-killing group "Catholics" for Choice has relaunched their global campaign to kick the Vatican out of the UN General Assembly. They want to reduce the Church to no more than an NGO (non-governmental organization).
I am also told that a delegate from Norway regularly complains in UN meetings that the Holy See has a seat at the table.
These attacks have to stop. We must act.
You often ask me what you can do. Well, here is what you can and must do right now.
We have launched a global Campaign in Defense of the Holy See at the UN.
I urge you to go to www.defendtheholysee.com right now and sign the Declaration in Support of the Holy See.
You can sign as an individual and if you run an organization, you can sign as an organization.
We aim to get hundreds of thousands of names and present them to the UN and also to the Holy See in New York, Geneva and Rome.
This will be an enormous effort but desperately needed.
If you are Cathoilc, sign! If you are Evangelical, sign! If you are Jewish, sign. Muslim, sign!
The Church represents all people of good will at the UN. If the Church was not there, abortion would now be a human right in UN documents. The family would be redefined. Religious freedom would come under further attack.
Now is the time to come to the aid of the Catholic Church.
I ask you to go to www.defendtheholysee.com and sign the Declaration and I ask you to send this letter to all of your family and friends. I ask you to begin campaigns to get as many people to sign this as possible.
We can do something big if we all work together.
Go now. Do it now.
Yours sincerely,
Austin Ruse
