STUDENTS FOR LIFE at Eastern Michigan University

March 19, 2013
 Dear Friend of Life:
Students for Life at Eastern Michigan University, founded in 2010, is committed to saving lives threatened by induced abortion, euthanasia, and the destruction of human embryos for research. We live in a generation where typical college campuses increasingly provide and even promote a wealth of misinformation about these topics and, in general, the sanctity of life is not valued.  In the interest of truth and with the lives of future generations hanging in the balance, we feel compelled to spread our message across EMU's campus and to the surrounding community.  SFL at EMU has supported the culture of life by raising funds for the local pregnancy help center, participating in 40 Days for Life by praying outside the Ann Arbor Planned Parenthood, and hosting guest speakers on campus.  On March 9, 2013 we successfully led two breakout training sessions at Chris the King Ann Arbor’s 1st Annual Young Adult Pro-Life Conference.  We want to be able to do more to engage and challenge the students within our learning community of EMU, but to do so we need the surrounding community's support.

On April 11 and 12, 2013 we are hosting the Genocide Awareness Project (GAP), a large traveling photo-mural exhibit which makes a compelling comparison of today’s abortion to the classical historically recognized forms of genocide, such as the Holocaust of WWII.  Its mission is specifically to visit university campuses around the country to show as many students as possible what abortion actually does to unborn children and to get them to think about abortion in a broader historical context.  The images we display are definitively not pleasant but they represent the greatest current human rights injustice of this generation.  We in SFL believe until this injustice is recognized into our mainstream culture (via truthful images of how abortion kills human life), however, it will not garner enough momentum to overturn Roe vs. Wade which legitimizes this carnage. For more information about GAP and its mission please visit: http://www.abortionno.org/college-campus-outreach-gap/

It will interest you to know that we first sought our funding through EMU’s Student Government (of which every student contributes a fee to support and of which we are a strong established student group on campus) but were denied due to the "controversial" (i.e. politically incorrect) nature of our event.  Therefore, we are reaching out to local churches, pro-life organizations, community members, and everyone we know to help us pay for this life-changing exhibit.  We have already secured $1,000 in funding but this donation is contingent on raising the additional funds.  Please help us bring GAP to EMU!  Thank you for prayerfully considering how your organization can ensure a voice for the culture of life among the young adults studying in Ypsilanti, MI.  Our contributors will be recognized by name on a banner alongside the GAP presentation.  In addition, we welcome the larger community to come to campus these days to see the exhibit.  The bare amount necessary to bring GAP to EMU is $4,000.  We recommend a $150 pledge for groups and $10 for individuals.

Sincerely,

Gregory Champion                                                     Alice Jo Rainville, PhD
