| | Highlights from the MFL Rally as Reported by Cecilia Tombelli - New Life Center Thank You, Cecilia! Baltimore Ravens tight-end Benjamin Watson: "Men must rise up and lead the charge." | | Hundreds of thousands of pro-lifers gathered at the 44th Annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. yesterday to stand together to be part of the monumental pro-life movement. Baltimore Ravens Tight End, Benjamin Watson, speaking to a crowd of more than a half million at the stage on the National Mall, said: "This is a beautiful sight to see. Many people wonder why this is important to us and I'll say this, becauseI like you hold life in high esteem. But even beyond that this is also important to me of three things I've dedicated my life to. The Book of Jeremiah 9:23 says, thus says the Lord: "Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this that they have the understanding to know me,that I am the Lord, who exercises loving kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight, declares the Lord." As a man, as people created in God's image, my desire is to delight in the very things that my Creator does. So as we rally and march today, let us remember three things. First, let us remember the power of loving kindness. That we may comfort the men and women who have made these decisions willingly or under duress. That pro-life will not only be a political stance or argument, but a way of life for all of us. To be pro-life should be all-encompassing, from conception to the grave, standing for life includes victims of sex-trafficking and abuse, the hungry, the poor, the disadvantaged, as well as the elite. Secondly, let us remember our commitment to justice, that those who take innocent life be held accountable and that these lives will not ever be forgotten under the guise of choice. That we stay the course on days when the fire inside us burns, as well as days when the amber flickers. In many respects this battle may seem never-ending, but never forget that the goal is worth the effort. I stand with you in defense of the voiceless, the pre-born which are our most precious gifts. Thirdly, let us remember the call to righteousness, knowing that we ultimately answer to a higher calling, and that no matter what we have done in the past, grace is sufficient to cover our many faults. In a time of relativism we must remember that truth is greater than any trend. And because of this we are compelled passionately to engage our culture without compromise. Now men, are you men out there? Men, it is past time that we be the lead caretakers and providers that we were meant to be. We as men must stand up for the lives of the innocent and their mothers in crisis. Hey, as important as it has been for women to stand up and championing this cause, you men, us men must rise up and lead the charge. Even if it wasn't demonstrated for you by a father, you can be different. You can change the course of generations. Men, we can be silent no more." Kellyanne Conway, who helped advise President Donald Trump in his election campaign, spoke on the stage at the National Mall, "I am a wife, a mother, a Catholic, counselor to the President of the United States of America, and yes, I am pro-life! It is such an honor to stand with the Vice President of the United States, and with so many leaders, families and students from places near and far to defend the unborn. Your courage, your conviction, your resolve and your faith are impressive and consequential. This is a new day, a new dawn for life! Why are we here? What does it mean to stand together to be part of this incredible movement? To face criticism, ridicule, laws and lawmakers that diminish and erode our most basic right and the bedrock of our society. It means to protect and promote the most precious gift in the world, the gift of life. It means to stand up, stand tall and stand together against the indifference and the indefensible." The wife of Vice President, Mike Pence, Mrs. Pence said her family has been to many Marches for Life over the past 16 years. She introduced her husband of 31 years, and said, "I have never met anyone who has more compassion for women, for children and for the American people. One of the kindest people that I know, the Vice President of the United States, Mike Pence." Vice President Pence said, "On behalf of President Trump, my wife Karen and our daughter, Charlotte, I'd like to welcome to the 44th Annual March for Life. It's a good day. It's the best day I've ever seen for the March for Life in more ways than one. I am deeply humbled to stand before you today to be the first Vice President of the United States to ever have the privilege to attend this historic day. More than 240 years ago, our founders wrote words that have echoed through the ages: They declared these truths to be self-evident: That we are all of us, endowed by our Creator, with certain unalienable rights and that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Forty-four years ago, our Supreme Court turned away from the first of these timeless ideals. But today, three generations hence, because of all of you and the many thousands who stand with us in many marches all across the nation, life is winning, again in America!"
