SIGN THE PETITION! Save Meriam Ibrahim, Don't Hang Her to Death for Her Faith

Dear LifeNews Readers,
Meriam Ibrahim is 8-months pregnant and is a Christian woman sentenced to hang to death in Sudan for rejecting Islam. She is being shackled by Sudanese officials despite the fact she is eight-months pregnant and there are grave concerns for her health and the health of her unborn baby.
Meriam will be tortured - beaten with 100 lashes for marrying an American Christian. Then she will be hung for being a Christian. Meanwhile, her son, a 20-month-old boy and American citizen, is also jailed with her and is sick from the prison conditions.
Ibrahim’s husband, U.S. citizen Daniel Wani, said lawyers representing her told Amnesty International that religious clerics in court had asked her if she would recant her faith, but she told them: “I am a Christian.”
The death sentence issued to a pregnant woman who refused to renounce Christianity for Islam in Sudan is an “egregious violation of basic human rights,” Congressman Chris Smith (NJ-04), Chairman of the House congressional panel that oversees U.S. policy in Africa, said previously.
“This is an affront to religious freedom everywhere,” Smith said. “The refusal of the government of Sudan to allow religious freedom was one of the reasons for Sudan’s long civil war. The U.S. and the rest of the international community must demand Sudan reverse this sentence immediately.”
WE NEED YOUR HELP TODAY: Please sign the LifeNews petition to support Meriam Ibrahim and raise awareness about her and her unborn child. Join with us to tell the world that this is an affront to religious freedom, the right to life, and human rights. Join LifeNews to call on the government of Sudan to reverse this sentence and release Meriam Ibrahim immediately so she and her unborn baby can get the medical care and attention they desperately need.
Over 2,500 people have already signed the petition to support Meriam, will you take 60 seconds to join them?
And after you sign the petition, can you make a donation to LifeNews to help us draw more attention to Meriam and her unborn baby's plight? We have done extensive reporting on her case and need your help to reach more people.
If you are able to support LifeNews today we will be able to more extensively promote this petition to Save Meriam and her unborn baby.
Thank you for your heart for the pro-life cause and those women and children who need our protection!
For their lives,

UPDATE From Dr. Monica Miller, CPLC regarding efforts in MI with 20 Week Pain-Capable Abortion Ban. Dear Defenders of Life--  I want to thank you for your many prayers for today's meeting with Mayor Frank Brock of Lathrup Village--  THE MEETING WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL.  Indeed, I would say that we left the meeting with all that we could have gotten out of it at this stage of the discussion.  Mayor Brock was very cordial, warm and open --  AND he is in favor of doing something regarding the 20 week pain-capable ban that we proposed to him--   We discussed the possible votes on the city council that will determine the outcome-- and all we need is 3 out of 5- and the mayor is one of those votes.  BUT--  FIRST, and this was expected--- the mayor is going to run all this by the city attorney.  We urged that before any final decision is made--  especially if they are inclined to NOT go forward--that the city attorney FIRST talk with Robert Muise of the American Freedom Law Center who attended today's meeting and has drafted an ordinance to comply with LV zoning laws.  Brock said that he would urged such a discussion. The mayor said that he expected to get back to us within 30 days. PLEASE PRAY--   we must pray!  We have done all can at this stage of our efforts!    What happens in LV will help us go forward in the other municipalities!

Bumper Sticker Idea: Have you been bothered that many American’s who support and promote abortion, are appalled by the practice of water boarding? There seems to be an inconsistency in that thought. For those who want to get an early start on our letter writing - emailing campaign, here is the basis contact information. The exhibit which went up on Jan. 16th in Lane Hall, is scheduled to come down in a few short days, on May 29th, but voicing our disapproval cannot end on May 29th. STAY TUNED FOR MORE RELATED EVENTS!

We NEED your help! SO SPREAD THE WORD!

Dear pro-life community,
In response to the University of Michigan's exhibit "4000 Years for Choice" we are organizing a Tweet-fest to express our opposition to the ideas presented in the exhibit and our disappointment that the university, through the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, The Institute for Research on Women and Gender and The Program for Sexual Rights & Reproductive Justice would sponsor such a blatantly pro-choice exhibit. The exhibit which went up on Jan. 16th in Lane Hall, is scheduled to come down in a few short days, on May 29th, but voicing our disapproval cannot end on May 29th. PLEASE STAY TURNED FOR MORE FOLLOW UP EVENTS IN RESPONSE TO THE MESSAGES PRESENTED IN THE DISPLAY. We must remember“The Only Thing Necessary for the Triumph of Evil is that Good Men Do Nothing”, and When bad men combine, good men must organize.” Edmund Burke

For those who don't know, a Tweet-fest is when a group of people Tweets about a single issue on a designated day and time. The goal is to get the issue "trending" so that others on Twitter notice it, and also to make our voices heard by, in this case, U of M. If you don't have a Twitter account and wish to participate, I promise you, Tweeting is very easy. Please help spread the word, even if you don’t tweet!
The Tweet-fest will happen this Thursday, May 22nd, from 12-2pm, of special interest to our catholic pro-life friends, appropriately; this is the feast day of St. Rita of Cascia, the patron saint of, among other things, parenthood. During that time, we ask that you send as many tweets as possible to U of M and the departments sponsoring the event. Attached is a document containing the Twitter addresses of the recipients of the Tweets, Twitter addresses of a number of pro-life organizations and speakers, and a list of suggested Tweets, though you are encouraged to compose your own as well.
Our primary hashtag will be #ChooseLife, which is very general while still referencing the exhibit's emphasis on choice.
Some of the suggested Tweets address the exhibit specifically, while others are more general. Other issues which could be addressed are:
--the fact that the Dept of OB/GYN is co-sponsoring the event
--the fact that the exhibit touts abortion as a "gift from God"
--the fact that a public university is using taxpayer money -- our money -- to sponsor this event. If you are a student, alumni, donor and/or taxpayer, please speak up and let UM know you are displeased! (Please note that Susan Coleman, outgoing university president, claims that no tax money is involved. Tax dollars were used to build and are used to maintain Lane Hall, where the exhibit is housed until May 29th.)

We ask that you please spread this information as widely as possible, whether to friends and family or pro-life groups that you are a part of. A Tweet-fest is only effective with a large group of participants!

Please invite your friends using our FB Event Page: https://www.facebook.com/events/714569571915337/
God bless, and we hope to see many of you on Twitter on Thursday!
